Character History:
Lasslaer was born in 2218 of the third age to a sindarin father and a silvan mother. She was a playful elfling. She lived with her family among the trees of Mirkwood and had several playmates. But one when Lasslaer was about 30 years old. Her mother left without apperant reason or warning Lasslaer's father told her that her mother had gone to the havens. He knew Lasslaer was naive enough to not take into account that her mother had never heard a sea gull. Lasslear's mother's was gone for another reason. She as well as Lasslear's father felt times on oncoming strife drawing nigh upon Middle-earth. Lasslaer's mother wanted to leave the land but her father wished to stay and protect his home. They had a large fight while Lasslaer was out ending in her mother storming off into the woods. when she did not return Lasslear's father finally answered her presisting questions by telling her her mother had gone to the havens. Several days later her mothers body was found entangled in a spides web. Her father never told her about it.
Lasslaer grew up to spiders and orc attacks but even the destruction that these brought on her beloved trees could not keep her depressed. She knew the forest and knew the trees would grow back healthier then ever. At about the same time her mother left Lasslaer's father began to teach her how to handle a sword and bow (she also learned to use a spear but that seemed to temporarily so she abandoned the practice). As she was blessed with the skill of the elves she learned quickly and improvised often. She was an excellent marksman but her sword was her love. And she cherished it more then any other material thing.
When she was old enough Lasslaer joined the army. As she knew the ways of weaponry they admitted her to the ranks quickly but she did have to learn discipline. Soon after joining the commanders began to use Lasslaer as a messenger. her quick feet and trustworthiness ensure the message's safe arrival to where ever it was destined. Lasslaer enjoyed the travel but liked being a regular solider better.
When Bilbo and the Dwarves came to Mirkwood Lasslaer had little to do with them. The most contact she had with the dwarves was to bring them food on occasion. She also was present at the battle of Five Armies as an archer and swordsman of the Elves.

Lasslaer listened intently. During her first official day of training she wanted to impress her commander Glassmiauth. Glassmiauth was to giver her a task that would tell him where she ought to be placed in the ranks of the army of Mirkwood She listened as Glassmiauth explained the proceedings of battle and the proper way to knock and fire arrows. Lasslaer stored it all away ready to use the knowledge when she had to. She was to act as if she was in a large battle, to imagine how it might feel, and then in the course of her imaginary battle fire twenty five arrows into a target set up in the clearing. Glassmiauth asked if she had any questions, she shook her head. She felt she was ready to proceed. She walked over to the firing range and stood on the sidelines for a moment to try to understand how a battle might be.
Being a young elf Lasslaer had never been in or seen a battle when the orcs came she was always told to flee with the others who could not fight. But her Ada had seen battle and he had told her stories. She drew upon those memories now. He had said that the chaos was like to that of an intense fire. Everyone is running franticly around. You could not tell friend from foe unless they were right in front of you. You had to be careful or you might very well shoot one of your comrades. The noise of battle he had also said was indescribable. Screams, the clash of swords, running feet, the thump of arrows, and, if there was rain, the clap of a thunderhead.
He had said it was particularly difficult to fight in the forest. Even if it was daytime you never knew where your enemy was. There were so many hiding spots among the trees it could be both an asset and the element that could make you loose a battle. Lasslaer drew upon every description of war she had ever heard to create an imaginary battle inside her head that she was immediately drawn into.
It was nighttime and it was raining and Lasslaer was in a dense part of Mirkwood. She had been a lucky one and found an elevated post up on a hill. But that meant her eyes had to be extra sharp so she would spot an enemy to shoot at and not a friend.
Lasslaer was actually now lined up in front of a target exactly 50 paces away but her mind was wrapped up in her imaginary battle. She grabbed a handful of arrows out of her quiver and stuck the 25 of them in the ground in front of her. She carefully aimed at the large orc in front of her, actually it was the target but it was an orc in her mind. She fired as Glassmiauth had instructed with her index finger above and her middle finger below the arrow and loosed the shaft. It hit close to the center of the target. The orc in her mind fell and slid down the muddy slope. No more ventured up the hill so Lasslaer had to take extra care when aiming to to shoot a comrade that might be fighting six inches away from an orc.
As she loosed the rest of her arrows almost all of them hit relatively close to the center of the target. Only one or two missed by a huge margin. Lasslaer looked up at Glassmiauth when she was done "Well," she asked eagerly "how did I do?" "You did well." Glassmiauth said "that last shot was very impressive." he gestured to the last arrow she had shot. The only visible part was the fletching of the arrow, the rest had gone through the target "Hannon le" Lasslaer said smiling at the compliment. Glassmiauth nodded and she went to retrieve her arrows.
